While working on Kala Elkinton’s brand, she started this podcast (Small Town Eats) - A show highlighting lesser-known (hidden gem) restaurants outside of metro areas and why they are worth the drive. Kala has conversations with the chefs and restaurant owners about their restaurant, how they started, and most importantly- THE FOOD! Small Town Eats is available wherever you listen to podcasts. Our goal in creating the cover art was to embody the “Roadside America” aesthetic, and extending Kala’s brand guidelines to it.
Create a Podcast Identity that:
The same charcoal pencil line work was extended to Small Town Eats, as well as fonts - Beverly Drive (Hoodzpah) in two variations and Gilroy (Radomir Tinkov).
We needed something to represent the show as an “on the road” podcast - so we designed the SUV. It’s modeled off of a vintage Ford Bronco to fit the throwback designed cover. A small diner with a sun (from KE’s logo) on the horizon complete the backdrop with the sign having a prominent spot.
To take the cover art a step further, we leaned into mid century era design with a matchbook illustration look. Each restaurant will have an illustration of the building just like you’d see on the free matchbooks they’d hand out - right next to the mints and toothpicks.
Look for Small Town Eats “Big Time Epicure” on any podcast outlet!
